The energy is electric as the US Open kicks off in New York, marking the final Grand Slam of the year. A thrilling Day 1 is set, with Iga Swiatek and Novak Djokovic headlining the action. The courts come alive at 11 am local Eastern Time with outside play, leading up to the spotlight moment on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Swiatek up frist
Swiatek, the women's world number one, steps onto the iconic court to face Sweden's Rebecca Peterson. The American flair continues as Francis Tiafoe takes on compatriot Learner Tien. The night session promises its own drama as Coco Gauff battles Germany's Laura Siegemund under the lights.

Novak is back
A notable return for Djokovic, a three-time men's champion, comes back after missing last year due to vaccination policies. His Ashe appearance revives memories of a 2021 final loss, making this comeback even more expected. Sloane Stephens, Elena Rybakina, and Caroline Wozniacki also start their campaigns, promising an enthralling Day 1 at the US Open.

Us and US Open, getting ready to start like…

Back-to-back titles for Baez 💪

Sebastian Baez, the 22-year-old Argentine, made history as he clinched the Winston-Salem Open title. Baez's victory makes him the first Argentine player since 2013 to claim three titles in a single season.

Nothing short (no pun intended) of impressive
The sixth seed delivered a flawless performance, defeating fifth seed Jiri Lehecka in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. This win extends Baez's winning streak to an impressive 10 matches, following his recent victory at the ATP 250 event in Kitzbühel.

Clutch play
Despite coming off a challenging semi-final match lasting over three hours, Baez showcased remarkable resilience, notably, saving four crucial break points in the first set, securing a 54-minute opener. Then in the second, winning four consecutive games from a 0-2 deficit to break Lehecka’s fight back.

Only a Alcaraz, Djokovic, Medvedev and now Baez have won more than 3 tour-level titles in 2023 🏆️

The victory propels Baez to No. 32 in the ATP Rankings. and as he gears up for the US Open, Baez's confidence is now hotter than an Argentine BBQ 🔥

Lucky winner Sorribes Tormo 🍀

Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain, made the most of her chances this week by securing her second singles title in what was a gripping showdown against Russia's Ekaterina Alexandrova in Cleveland.

From the brink
Ranked No. 95 world, Sorribes Tormo showcased her tenacity by overcoming a second-set deficit and a third-set setback before claiming victory with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 scoreline.

A triumphant turnaround 🙌
Her victory was all the more incredible knowing that she almost never made it into the draw. After losing in the qualifying, she was granted a entry via lucky loser when Irina-Camelia Begu withdrew.

Sorribes Tormo described the week as an emotional roller coaster that led her from despair to elation. The 26-year-old's win made her only the sixth lucky loser in WTA history to seize a singles title.
