Swiatek Stunned 🤯
Elina Svitolina, returning to major tournaments after maternity leave and coming off ‘shake-gate’ in her last round, used all her veteran skills to conquer Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon quarter-finals. The win was the biggest upset of the tournament so far.
Svitolina resilience
Things looked nervy when leading 4-1 in the second-set tie-break, Swiatek staged an incredible comeback. However, Svitolina, remained composed, drawing on her extensive experience to secure a remarkable victory over the top seed, 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-2. Reflecting on her resilience, Svitolina credits the war in Ukraine for bolstering her mental fortitude and perspective, reminding her that life's challenges pale in comparison.
Ukrainian’s best to date
The win matches Svitolina's best performance in a Grand Slam and marks her first victory over a top-eight player at one. She will now face Marketa Vondrousova in the semi-finals.
Marketa better watchout though, Mrs Monfils is definitely on a war path!

Sweet 46 for Novak 🎂
Novak Djokovic continued his exceptional form at SW19 as he triumphed in his 400th Grand Slam match, following his 100th Wimbledon match victory the day before. It was sweet 46 for the Serbian machine, as his four-set win against Andrey Rublev secured his 46th major semi-final, matching Roger Federer's record.
Back to no.1
Djokovic displayed remarkable patience and precision to secure a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 victory, putting him on track for his eighth Wimbledon title and 24th major trophy. Additionally, the win propelled him to the top of the ATP Rankings, albeit temporarily. Djokovic aims to reclaim the ranking's top spot from Carlos Alcaraz if he can progress further than the Spaniard in the tournament.
“It ain’t happening”
The 23 Grand Slam champion’s confidence remains unwavering, as he relished being the player everyone wants to defeat. “I know they want to get a scalp, they want to win, but it ain't happening still”.
He now gears up for the semi-final clash against Jannik Sinner, a rematch of their Wimbledon quarter-final last year.

The £260k phone call ☎️
Unbelievably, Marketa Vondrousova found solace in a phone call to her husband, which ended up spurring her on to stage an incredible comeback in her quarterfinal match against Jessica Pegula.
The Olympic silver medalist fought back from a 1-4 deficit in the final set, winning five consecutive games to stun the American fourth seed, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. The victory propelled Vondrousova to her first-ever Wimbledon semifinal.
It’s time we talked
When play was interrupted and the retractable roof closed, instead of consulting her coach, the 24-year-old Czech dialed her husband in Prague. He simply praised her exceptional performance and urged her to persevere. Energized by the call, Vondrousova dominated the match from then on, sealing a remarkable triumph. With the win, she went from potentially losing in the quarters and receiving £340k in prize money, to with the help of her husband’s calming words, taking home at least £600k for her semifinal appearance.
Husband still at home
We hope Vondrousova has her husband on speed dial as he apparently he may still not attend the semifinals due to work and cat??? responsibilities.
